Hi Everyone,
If you have visited my blog before, welcome back!
I guess you could say new year, new me and new subject within my degree. If you are interested in my story so far, please check out my updated about me page ;) lots has been happening and lots has changed. (Scary word there the big "change", something that doesn't sit so well with me, but I am learning to go with it) I am excited for this unit and secretly I kind of don't mind having to blog every now and then.
Chapter 1, what are your thoughts?
Briefly, I found that there is a lot to unpack with financial statement analysis. I have provided a snip it of my draft below.
Key takeaways I found were:
Share price is more than just a monetary figure
Economic and business realities play a very important role in analysis
Frameworks aid us to go beyond financial based decisions and broaden our decision-making skills
Some KCQs I developed were as follows:
What happens when we review prior choices we could have made for a firm. Would these prior options of choice lead the firm down the same path, a better path or even a worse path?
When deciding as an investor what a company is truly worth, do we exhaust all possible outlets to make sure we are making sound financial decisions? Does the information we are provided limit the levels of risk when making investments or inevitably will risk always remain constant?
Are members of society too focused on other opinions when reviewing financial statements of potential investments?
Have companies/firms become too at ease at disclosing financial information that in fact has the power to damage or limit potential value adding opportunities?
Feel free to read my draft for step 1 and provide me with any feedback or comments you have :)
